Bond Curl Rehab Salve

Product Description

Hair strength starts from within, specifically, with its internal bonds. When these bonds break due to damage, hair becomes weaker and more vulnerable to external stressors. Bond Curl is a protein-rich formula designed to target all three hair bonds (disulphide, hydrogen & salt bonds), helping to repair, rebuild, and strengthen your curls from the inside out.
Clinically proven to reduce damage* and minimize split ends, it’s your curl-care essential for healthy-looking, smooth, bouncy curls.
*Based on third party testing vs control

Heads up! We’re giving our packaging a fresh new look. While we transition, your order might show up looking a little different than the pictures—but don’t worry, it’s still the same great product inside!

How to use

Step 1

Soak your hair with water. You don't need to wash your hair - just wetting it is enough to create the right foundation for this pre-shampoo treatment.

Step 2

Apply Bond Curl generously from root to tip, making sure the hair is evenly coated, then use a detangling tool to remove all knots.

Step 3

Let it sit on your hair to penetrate deep into the shaft. For low porosity hair, use every 4-5 wash days for 15 minutes. For medium porosity, use 3-4 wash days for 20 minutes. For high porosity, use every 2-3 wash days for 30 minutes.

Step 4

Rinse and follow with shampoo and conditioner.

Reviews

Postpartum Hair Saver

"I had so much breakage and fading postpartum and my hair felt like straw. This product completely changed that! With just one treatment my hair felt completely changed. It was so much softer and I noticed the amount of breakage dramatically reduced. Absolute game changer!"

Myahbeth (5/5)

Can not live without

"From the first time I tried this I knew I could never live without it. I absolutely love the way it makes my hair feel and look."

Kari (5/5)

Great product - do housework while waiting

"I bought this product and didn’t use it for many months since I didn’t know if I could sit around the shower and wait for it to work. One day I decided to just wet my hair with a hand shower. Then I applied the product, put my hair up and did some housework. Once the 30 minutes was up, I showered and shampooed. The results were immediately noticeable. My hair was soft and bouncy. This will become a part of my regular routine. I do wonder if it can be used with the clarifying shampoo though or if that will negate the benefits."

S (5/5)

My favorite CS product

"This salve does miracles for my waves. No weight to the uber-moisturizing it provides along with outstanding wave definition. And a little goes a long way."

Pat B. (5/5)

Game Changer

"I caused quite a bit of damage to my hair recently through a combination of coloring and heat styling. I tried other treatments, without much improvement. I picked this up during a sale, and wow! My hair is noticeably softer and shinier. It's not a replacement for not damaging your hair in the first place, but it definitely helped far more than anything else!"

Karen R. (5/5)

Great treatment

"This treatment works great for my hair. I use it every 4-6 weeks as a pre-treatment on wash day. It makes the work in the shower a breeze. My hair looks and feels better on the days I use it."

Erica (5/5)

Love this product!

"I use this once a week and my waves/curls are brought back to life! I leave the product in for 30-60 minutes and wash it out with shampoo and conditioner. My hair looks and feels super moisturized, healthy, and shiny! Love this product!"

Kim (5/5)

I have noticed a significant

Martha j. (5/5)

"My all-time favorite protein treatment! Nothing compares! I’ve tried many others brands but this is hands down the best on the market!"

Q&A

Can i use the bond curl rehab salve with the curl reset detox shampoo? I'm thinking using the rehab salve on my unwashed damp hair, then after 30 mins(high porosity on my crown) wash with the detox shampoo followed by the double cream deep quenched.
Hi Curlyhei, Thanks so much for your question—your routine sounds very thoughtful, especially considering your hair’s porosity! Yes, you can absolutely use the Bond Curl Rehab Salve with the Curl Reset Detox Shampoo. Applying the salve to damp, unwashed hair and leaving it on for about 30 minutes is a great approach. Following up with the detox shampoo will help cleanse the scalp and remove buildup, and finishing with the Double Cream Deep Quencher will restore moisture beautifully. It sounds like a well-balanced routine for strengthening and hydrating your curls. If you notice your crown area needs a bit more love, you can always leave the salve on slightly longer there. Let us know how it works for you—we’d love to hear your results! Thanks, Curlsmith
I am new to pre-poo. Is this best for root to tip, or can you apply midlength to tip? i ask because i have another roots/scalp treatment for my hair that i still have.
Hi Amber, Thanks for reaching out to us. The Bond Curl Rehab Salve is flexible in how it can be used. While it can be applied from root to tip, it’s absolutely fine to apply it just from mid-lengths to ends, especially if you’re already using a separate scalp or root treatment. This way, you still get the strengthening and repair benefits where your hair needs it most without overlapping treatments on the scalp. Please let us know if you have any other questions — we’re happy to help! Thanks, Curlsmith
Is this safe to leave in overnight as a deep conditioning mask before washing it out in the morning? If not, do you have a product that you would recommend as a mask that is safe to leave in overnight? I have 3c-4a coils and curls (I am biracial/Black, in case that makes a difference on how safe it’d be to leave in overnight), and I really like letting my hair soak up a deep conditioner for as long as possible. :) Thank you advance for your help here ❤️
Hi Sam, Thanks so much for reaching out! The Bond Curl Rehab Salve isn’t recommended to be left on overnight — it’s best to rinse it out after the instructed time to avoid potential protein overload or dryness. If you’re looking for a product that’s safe to leave in overnight, our Double Cream Deep Quencher is a great option. It’s designed for dry or coarse curls like yours and can be used as an overnight treatment for extra hydration. I hope this helps! Thanks, Curlsmith
Can I use a clarifying shampoo after applying this product? I need to use your detox shampoo and the frizz conditioner since I haven't washed my hair in a week to get all the salt from the ocean last week plus cutting grass today. Thanks
Hi Denise, Thanks for reaching out! We recommend using Bond Curl Rehab Salve on clean, damp hair before shampoo and conditioner so it can penetrate best. You can definitely start with the Wash & Scrub Detox Shampoo to deeply cleanse, then apply the Bond Curl Rehab Salve, and follow with the Frizz Control Duo for moisture and softness. Let us know if you have additional questions. Thanks, Curlsmith
If I wanted to follow this treatment up with your clarifying shampoo, would that be too intense/harsh for my hair to use both products back-to-back? Would it be best to follow with a gentler shampoo or would the clarifying shampoo be alright to use right after this salve?
Hi Sam, Thanks for reaching out! You can absolutely follow the Bond Curl Rehab Salve with a shampoo. A clarifying shampoo is stronger, so we’d usually recommend using a gentler cleanser afterward to maintain balance. However, if you feel your hair has a lot of buildup or needs a deep cleanse, using the clarifying shampoo right after the salve is also fine—just be sure to follow up with a nourishing conditioner to restore moisture. Let us know if you have additional questions. Thanks, Curlsmith
Hi! Is there an alternative to this product that does not have almond oil? I have a nut allergy but I want to use this product
Hi Sophie, Thanks for reaching out to us. If you’re looking for an alternative to the Bond Curl Rehab Salve that doesn’t contain almond oil, you might want to try the Curlsmith Super Slip Pre-Wash Primer. It’s designed to be moisturizing and help with curl definition without using nut oils. If you have further questions. Please reach out to us at hello@curlsmith.com and our team will be able to help you. Thanks, Curlsmith
I am a curly hair with medium porosity. I struggle with keeping my curls defined and soft looking. I am looking at a treatment product to possibly help. I am looking between the Bond Curl Rehab Salve, Bonding Oil or the Intense Treatment Serum. Any suggestions?
Hi Amenage, Thank you for reaching out for recommendations on hair treatment products. All three products you mentioned—Bond Curl Rehab Salve, Bonding Oil, and Intense Treatment Serum—are fantastic options that cater to different needs. If you have additional questions. Please reach out to us at hello@curlsmith.com and our team will be able to help you. Thanks, Curlsmith
Can you sit under the dryer after you apply this product?
Hi Alisha, Thank you for reaching out with your question about the Bond Curl Rehab Salve. The Bond Curl Rehab Salve is designed to deeply nourish and hydrate your curls, and using a dryer immediately after application could potentially compromise the effectiveness of the product or cause uneven drying. For best results, I would suggest allowing your hair to air dry naturally after applying the salve. This will give the product ample time to penetrate the hair shaft and provide maximum hydration and repair. If you have additional questions. Please reach out to us at hello@curlsmith.com and our team will be able to help you. Thanks, Curlsmith
Can you use the Curl quenching Conditioning wash to shampoo the Salve out of your hair?
Hi Lorraine, Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We would love to assist you in finding the best product for your hair type. Please reach out to us at hello@curlsmith.com and our team will be able to help you. Thanks, Curlsmith
I normally pre-poo my hair with various oils before shampooing, since the Bond Curl Rehab Salve is a pre-shampoo treatment that should be used on unwashed hair, should I skip using my pre-poo oils (and just use the salve on its own) because then the salve may not get a fair chance to penetrate my hair?
We would advise only using one product as a pre-poo, therefore when using the Bond Curl Rehab Salve, do not use the oil.
