Curlsmith Rocks Coachella
Curlsmith kicked off festival season with braids and waves at Coachella, taking over the Geojam Mansion Pool Party, in collaboration with LA Weekly! While attendees sipped on cocktails and lounged on Curlsmith pool floats, our styling team were on hand with the help of Curlsmith products to create an array of Coachella festival hairstyles.

There were so many trending styles this year for festival hair, with the help of glitter, hair charms, and color extensions. Before committing to a look, our stylists applied Miracle Shield to all tresses to protect against the hair's harshest aggressors, such as;

  • UV rays

  • Chlorine

  • Sea salt

  • Thermal heat

  • Color fading

  • Pollution

Applying Miracle Shield to wet or dry hair provides the ultimate protection whether you dance the day away under the sun or splash in the pool. Now that we have you covered, let's dive into the various looks created.

Free Falling Plaits

Free-falling plaits are simple yet effective, especially with adding hair charms for that extra detail.

Get the look

    1. Take a section of hair a few inches wide and create a plait securing it with an elastic band a few inches before the ends.
    2. Randomly select sections of hair where you would like to see the plait fall throughout the head.
    3. Secure hair charms down the lengths of the plaits, leaving a few inches between each.
Headband Braid

Why worry about finding a headband when you can have a braided band using added color to make it pop? The best thing about this style is that you can still showcase your beautiful curls while keeping your hair out of your face.

Get the look

  1. Take a section of hair a few inches back from the hairline.

  2. Apply our In Shower Style Fixer gel to the hair for hold and to smooth the edges.

  3. Braid the hair using adding extensions for color.

  4. Secure the braid at the back of the head with an elastic.

  5. Mist the remaining curl with Moisture Memory Reactivator to refresh the curls, followed by Miracle Shield for protection.

Bubble Braids

Bubble braids have become very popular on the festival scene over the last few years. They are fun, adaptable, and suitable for all hair types.

  1. Take a section of hair at the front and create a braid. Secure the braid with an elastic once you reach the bottom of the section.

  2. Leave a few inches of hair, and secure another elastic. Repeat the action until you run out of hair.

  3. Once all the elastics are secure, use your fingers to pull out each section of hair to create the bubble effect.

  4. Take another section of hair a few inches away from the braid; this time, secure the hair at the root with an elastic.

  5. Repeat the same actions as before to create the bubble effect.

  6. Once completed, your locks with Miracle Shield.

Mini Braids

Mini braids are perfect for adding detail to your tresses, and the extra pop of color is perfect to complete any festival style.

Get the look:

  1. Take a section of hair from above the recession areas roughly 4 inches back from the hairline, then separate it into two equal sections.

  2. Apply Shine Gel for hold and to smooth the edges of each section.
